Digital Photo Media Week 7: Brandon Woelfel

Photographer: Brandon Woelfel
Type of Photography: Freelance
Brandon Woelfel is a photographer based in New York and began his photography journey at the age of 19 after he got his first dslr camera. He is a full time freelance photographer and shoots & collaborate with clothing brands like Aeropostale and Urban Outfitters. His works are very vintage and tumblr-ish which appeals to most of the young generation now and his following have still been growing fast and bigger. The way he experiments with different things like fairy lights, prism and led lights; he brings the photos to life in a different way. He is definitely one of my inspiration for project 2: light as subject.

Digital Photo Media Week 6: Robert Zhao

Photographer: Robert Zhao
Type of Photography: Documentry
Robert Zhao is a renowned photographer and artist from Singapore. I went to National Museum a few days back to look at the different exhibitions and I came across his installation, photographs of trees. In his work 'Singapore, Very Old Tree', is an impersonal image of anonymous trees and gardeners in Singapore. The first five pictures were taken at the exhibition and unfortunately, those were the only few pictures that I took.

I love how his works are all almost desaturated or in black and white in most parts of the picture while the tree is the brightest and greenest. It almost looks like the trees are glowing. I would recommend people to go and see his artwork because there's a huge difference between what you see online and when you're there at the exhibit. When I look at all the pictures, it gives me a sense of home, a sense of Singapore and how we should appreciate nature more. What's special about his work is that in almost every photo, there's a person standing infront of the tree. One of my favourites is the durian tree in bukit panjang forest, I hate durians but the story behind it is interesting, there's a regular forager, Mr Teo Teah On(66 years old) who has been returning to this tree for the past seven years as it produces the sweetest fruit.

Digital Photo Media Week 5: Silas Lee (@bludshot)

Photographer: Silas Lee
Type of Photography: Portraits/Cityscapes
Born and raised in London, Silas began shooting sneakers, men's fashion and cityscapes in Hong Kong for Hypebeast, then Highsnobiety. He is now one of the founders of Team Cozy, which is an expression of the world's leading youth talent in photography and film. I only know about him after watching my favorite YouTuber, Sophia Chang because they've been together for quite a long time now. I love how his photos are all perfectly timed, the sunset, the birds, and the people. He maintains that moody and gritty feel for most of his shots. I don't usually gravitate towards portrait shots when it comes to scenery or sunset but his photos are stunning and it attracts my attention.
