Digital Photo Media Week 10: Alexandra Sophie

Photographer: Alexandra Sophie
Type of Photography: Fine Art/Fashion
Alexandra Sophie is photographer based in Paris. Her photos are used in magazines such as Vogue and Elle and her style is very natural and light and it gives me the feeling of youth and freedom. I love the way she captures ambient light in most of her photos, and how her photos are more about nature and whenever I see her photos, it gives me a feeling of serenity and peace. I absolutely adore and fell in love with one of her projects named 'Jardin Fleuri', it is a series representing different ages of woman(last picture). This project was inspired by her motherhood when she gave birth to her son Marin in 2011. If you look at each picture, it tells a story about how girls got their first period and how we blossom - growing and becoming a woman and creating their very own seed/life. After looking at her project, I showed it to my mom and we had a good talk about my birth and how it went(even though I've heard it a million times), but this work really made me think about my mother and how she carried me in her womb for 9 months and went through excruciating pain just for me. I love it when photographs can make me think about my own personal life or the people I love.

Digital Photo Media Week 9: Kurt Arrigo

Photographer: Kurt Arrigo
Type of Photography: Nature/Sports/Underwater
Kurt Arrigo is from an island called Malta. He have been shooting for more than 20 years, he does a lot of swimming and sailing activities and normally gets inspired when he's doing his activities and travelling. All of his photos captures the perfect and iconic moments like the horse in the sea and the sailboat right in the middle of the rocks and I love that all his photos are very vibrant. He plays with a lot of natural light in his photos and the rays of light reflecting on the sea is stunning. It's also nice to read about how he mixed both his passion for sailing and photography into his professional career.

Digital Photo Media Week 8: Liat Aharoni

Photographer: Liat Aharoni
Type of Photography: Conceptual/Fine Art
Liat Aharoni is a photographer based in Toronto, Canada. She's been teaching herself photography through the internet since April 2012. She always has a reason behind why she is shooting something. In every image of hers, there's a colour of purple in different tones and hues. I didn't notice it at first but after taking a closer look, there really is the colour purple in every of her photos. I find it interesting how she uses different elements in her photos and being a female photographer is an advantage because the model will definitely be more comfortable and vulnerable infront of her.
